Our Millennium Library System has been unavailable since the start of this term because the
hard disk for the server hosting the system crashed.
Unfortunately, the system hardware is highly proprietary and specialized such that an immediate
replacement for this damaged component cannot be immediately sourced. We have already
placed an order for this part but we have been informed that delivery alone will take anywhere
from 30 to 45 days.
When this happened, however, the ITC was already in the process of installing a backup server
for the Millennium Library System which was scheduled for use starting this summer. Because
of current circumstances, they are fast tracking this process and are working closely with our
service providers in order to have the system up as soon as possible.
Deploying such a system involves many variables and several external (third-party) partners
both here and abroad. If everything goes well, we are looking at having the system available
before January 31, 2008.
We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this incident and thank you for your
patience.
